A little about me...

As a child I was obsessed with Harold and the Purple Crayon...guess it was because he was so incredibly creative when it came to problem solving.... On library day, if I found out that I couldn't renew my favorite book because someone else wanted their turn, I would smile on the outside, but on the inside I was stressing that some little 6 year old would desire that book as much as me. I checked out many sequels, but they just weren't the same.

Thinking back, I'm not sure why I didn't just ask my mother to buy it for me. Must be that deep down I was enjoying a little competition with another potential Harold fan at the same time. My sister bought me the book later in life during some rough times and I still keep it within reach. I wasn't able to draw my way out with a purple crayon, but I kept looking forward which brings me to where I am today.

I'm a special education teacher and have been for 26 years. When not teaching or spending time with family, I enjoy my evenings and weekends creating ceramic beads.

I'm kinda like Harold when I sit down to form beads or glaze them. While I've got the clay in my hands, I just start forming until the idea of what it will be feels right... Then I just go with it. Same thing when I'm glazing.... I look at my bisqued sets and try to envision what will make it different. I've tried doing the whole planning thing (writing down what I do, sketching an idea on paper) but it just doesn't work for me...

At 50 years old, I'm throwing in the towel and giving up on wishing I were a better planner. I'm just not!

And you know what.....I'm OKAY with that!

Here are some items from my shop:

Wonderful intro… I have siblings that teach Special Ed students - and I know how much I appreciate them and all that they do for those kids. It takes a special kind of person with a kind heart and understanding to work with kids (and people in general) that need extra attention, guidance and help. And I admire you for that. Your beads are pretty darn nice too!!! Thanks for sharing so much!

I am a Harold fan too. And there is nothing like the original. I love the idea that you can make your world what you want it to be. That is quite comforting. Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself. I am fascinated.
Enjoy the day!

You are so sweet and I am so glad to learn more about you! Love Harold and feel like him too still! And the best way to make things is to follow the moment of inspiration, planning can do some good sometimes but it doesn't work for me either! Lots of hugs from me! Sandra
